Alexandra Friedman’s green thumb was nurtured at a young age, tending to gardens alongside her grandmothers. From berry picking to collecting chicken eggs, her fascination with growing and cultivating blossomed early on, sparking a lifelong passion.
After college, Alex deepened her love of gardening while helping her mother-in-law, Susan, nurture a vibrant biodynamic garden teeming with tomatoes, basil, cucumbers, and peonies. Her journey took an exciting turn when she discovered the joys of seed starting in the bustling landscape of New York City.
Despite the limits of apartment living, Alex found that her charming apartment with east-facing windows and radiators beneath them was the perfect environment for her plants to thrive. Her greenery flourished, allowing her to donate seedlings to community gardens across the city. She even transformed her Upper East Side terrace into a flourishing raised-bed garden before transitioning from city life to suburban bliss in Greenwich, Connecticut.
When Alex and her husband settled in Greenwich, she built her dream garden and began growing rare and unique plant varieties, exploring every facet of the process from seed to harvest. Her curiosity expanded into homemade pickles, hot sauces, and canned stocks, all inspired by her love of working with what she grew.
In 2022, she became a certified Master Gardener through the University of Connecticut at the Bartlett Arboretum and Gardens, further honing her horticultural skills. Eager to expand her creative perspective, she began studying landscape design at the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx.
Alex continues to share her knowledge generously as the Horticulture Co-chair for the Green Fingers Garden Club and as a member of the Garden Club of America, the American Dahlia Society, the Greenwich Daffodil Society, and the New York Botanical Garden. She is also a proud participant in the Growing Kindness Project, promoting community and connection through the simple act of sharing flowers.
Beyond her green pursuits, Alex maintains a thriving career in real estate, with more than seventeen years of experience as a Licensed Associate Real Estate Broker in both New York and Connecticut. Her deep understanding of design, lifestyle, and a sense of place allows her to blend her professional expertise with her passion for creating and nurturing beautiful spaces.
At home, Alex finds joy in time spent with her husband, their two boys, and their doodles. Whether tending her gardens, supporting clients, or hosting family and friends, her zest for life and her belief in living beautifully shine through in everything she does.
Rooted in both nature and community, Alex embodies the spirit of The Greenwich Home, a life cultivated with love, care, creativity, connection, and laughter.
