Meet Alex
Alexandra Friedman's green thumb was nurtured at a young age, tending to gardens alongside her grandmothers. From berry picking to collecting chicken eggs, her fascination with growing and cultivating blossomed early on, sparking a lifelong passion.
Post-college, Alex delved deeper into the world of gardening, assisting her mother-in-law Susan in nurturing a vibrant biodynamic garden teeming with tomatoes, basil, cucumbers, and peonies, among other delights. Her journey took an exciting turn when she discovered the joys of seed starting in the bustling landscape of New York City. Despite the constraints of apartment living Alex found that her charming apartment with east-facing windows and radiators underneath were a winning combination, her greenery flourished, allowing her to donate seedlings to community gardens across the city. Alex transformed her terrace on the Upper East Side into flourishing raised beds before transitioning from city living to suburban bliss, settling in Greenwich, CT. Here, she convinced her husband to craft her dream garden, where she delved into growing unique and rare plant varieties, exploring every facet of the process from seed to harvest. Her passion extended beyond mere cultivation; she experimented with homemade pickles, hot sauces from homegrown peppers, and canned stocks, relishing in the fruits of her labor.
In 2022, Alex solidified her expertise by becoming a certified Master Gardener, honing her skills at the prestigious Bartlett Arboretum and Gardens in Stamford through the University of Connecticut. Eager to expand her horizons further, she embarked on a journey into landscape design, currently studying at the renowned New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx, NY.
Dedicated to sharing her knowledge and passion, Alex serves as the Horticulture Co-chair for the Green Fingers Garden Club where she actively contributes to the local gardening community.
Alongside her green pursuits, Alex maintains a thriving career in real estate, boasting over 17 years of experience. As a Licensed Associate Real Estate Broker in both New York and Connecticut, she adeptly navigates the intersection of property and nature, seamlessly blending her passions and giving her real estate clients the benefit of her green expertise.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Alex finds solace in family life, cherishing moments with her husband, two boys, and two beloved doodles. Whether nurturing gardens, closing real estate deals, or enjoying family time, Alex's zest for life shines through in everything she does.
